Josephine Selvarani Ruth D.

Ruth received her B.E. in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Anna University, Chennai in 2009, M.E. in Control and Instrumentation Engineering from Anna University, Coimbatore in 2011 and her doctorate in “Design and control of shape memory alloy based sensors and actuators for human machine interface systems” from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, in 2015.

Prior to joining RBCCPS in December 2017, she worked as a temporary faculty member with the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (August 2015 to September 2016).
Her main research interests include design of smart sensors and actuators, control systems, smart material-based HMI systems, and ADAS.

Shishir N. Y. Kolathaya

Shishir joined RBCCPS in January 2018. Previously, he was a postdoctoral scholar in the department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at the California Institute of Technology. He received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering (2016) from the Georgia Institute of Technology, his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering (2012) from Texas A&M University, and his B. Tech. degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (2008) from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. Prior to pursuing his Master’s degree, he also worked on smart power supplies for two years in Tejas Networks Ltd., Bangalore.

He is interested in stability and control of nonlinear hybrid systems, especially in the domain of legged robots. His more recent work is also focused on fast trajectory optimization and real-time safety critical control for cyber physical systems.
