Machine learning and computer vision for autonomous drones
The Robert Bosch Centre for Cyber-Physical Systems at the Indian Institute of Science is currently looking for technical staff to develop machine learning and computer vision algorithms for autonomous navigation for drones. The primary job responsibility includes research and implementation of cutting-edge solutions for problems such as object recognition, pose estimation, motion planning, obstacle avoidance, state estimation, and SLAM (simultaneous localisation and mapping) using visual as well as infrastructure-aided odometry. The work will be part of a larger project with potential for high impact.
The ideal candidate would have completed his/her Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Electrical Communication Engineering. Research publications in the field of machine learning or computer vision will be a great plus.
The candidate should be proficient with machine learning and deep learning frameworks such as Numpy, Tensorflow, PyTorch and OpenCV. Candidates with prior experience in projects involving machine learning or computer vision will be given preference.
The position is for one year and could be renewed depending on the availability of funding and performance of the candidate.

Video analytics for traffic management
The Robert Bosch Centre for Cyber-Physical Systems at the Indian Institute of Science is currently looking for technical staff in the field of video analytics. The work will be related to development/realisation of cutting-edge solutions for traffic management using computer vision and machine learning (including deep learning). The work will be geared towards development and deployment of solutions in real-world scenarios. Hence, apart from algorithmic development, an important aspect of this effort is the design of an end-to-end deployable framework for analysing multiple video streams in real time. This effort is a part of a larger project involving the Ministry of Home and Urban Affairs, with potential to be piloted in cities across India. The position is for one year and could be renewed depending on the availability of funding and performance of the candidate.
- Completed BE, BTech, ME or MTech in any of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Communication Engineering
- Successfully completed courses on topics such as Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Deep Learning, and able to demonstrate this knowledge.
- Familiar with different libraries/frameworks in use for machine learning and video analytics such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, NLTK, FFMPEG, OpenCV and Numpy
- Motivated to drive the project with complete ownership
- Ability to learn quickly and apply the same in practice
Candidates having prior industry experience in building systems for video analytics will be preferred. Relevant research publications will be a great plus.
