National Science Foundation (USA): Cyber-Physical Systems

  1. Small projects (up to $500,000 for up to three years) for emerging new and innovative ideas that will have high impact on the field of cyber-physical systems
  2. Medium projects (up to $1,000,000 for up to four years) for multi-disciplinary efforts that accomplish clear goals requiring an integrated perspectives spanning the disciplines

Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (India/USA): Research Initiative for Real Time River Water and Air Quality Monitoring

Funding for:

Bilateral, interdisciplinary research collaborations to develop key technologies for sensing, communication and analysis of large-scale data collected from autonomous networks of perpetual/long-lived sensor nodes, followed by integration and deployment for water and air quality monitoring in real-time

Scope:

  1. Sensing and sense making at the edge – To develop novel low cost, low power sensor platforms for selective and sensitive detection of multiple water quality features.
  2. Novel energy harvesting technologies – To develop novel technologies for energy harvesting that are especially suited for the deployment scenario exploiting solar, water, wind, wave motion etc and also combine more than one energy harvesting mode.
  3. Ultra low power wireless networking – To explore a range of different wireless networking related challenges as applicable to a sensor network for water quality monitoring over a large geographic scale.
  4. Distributed analytics and sense making – To develop analytics capabilities (edge, gateway and cloud based) to enable an intelligent, low power, long lifetime/ perpetual operation for water quality monitoring wireless sensor network.

  1. Empower and facilitate actions for consumers to become prosumers, or to form collective consumer groups/consumer cooperatives
  2. Support clearly defined groups of vulnerable consumers in tackling fuel poverty by facilitating more sustainable energy behaviour and choices in their everyday life
  3. Facilitate wider deployment and consumer adoption of existing ICT-based solutions
